The Story
I painted "Still as the Horizon" in 2025. It is an original acrylic painting of coyote standing still and beautiful in a vibrant western landscape.
After years of seeing coyotes run across and beside the road while I travel between art fairs, I wanted to finally create a painting that celebrates them. I have a lot of respect for coyotes and for how they move through the world around us, and this painting comes from that appreciation for the wildlife we usually only see for a split second.
I chose a western landscape with desert mountains and sagebrush because it instantly feels right for a coyote and gives the painting a strong sense of place. The coyote stands still and confident in the center of the scene, and that feeling of steady presence is something many of us recognize in our own lives, those moments when we stop pushing forward and quietly trust where we are standing.
I paint animals to capture their spirit, not just how they look, and this painting is about respect for the natural world and the connection we feel when we notice the wildlife that lives all around us. This original acrylic painting is meant to bring that sense of connection and confidence into your home and remind you that strength does not always have to be loud. It's a strength that's somehow stronger by its stillness.
The painting is framed in a custom-made cream colored wood floating frame, signed on the front and back, wired, and ready to hang. I included a video of me painting it, and also a photo of what the painting looks like hanging in the back of my art fair booth framed.
Size of the framed painting: 34 inches by 44 inches by 2 inches
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
